RESPECT LIVES HERE: Diversity in the Shuswap

Shuswap Immigrant Services Society is committed to helping make Salmon Arm and the Shuswap a safe and welcoming environment for newcomers. We want to be part of communities that respect and embrace all residents, including immigrants and refugees, Indigenous peoples, and people of colour.

We celebrate diversity through initiatives such as our annual Gathering Together Multicultural Festival and our participation in networks like the Thompson-Okanagan Respect Network and the Province of BC’s Organizing Against Racism and Hate (OARH) and Resilience BC Anti-Racism Network.

The City of Salmon Arm has demonstrated its commitment to diversity and inclusion by releasing an Inclusivity Statement that reinforces the messaging in our Anti-racism Statement. Shuswap Immigrant Services Society is proud to have been part of this work.
